Everyone would like to browse faster and faster. Google has started a new venture to help people around the globe to browse faster than ever before. They have done this by launching their own public DNS resolver called Google Public DNS. Till now there was only one popular DNS service Open DNS. OpenDNS services are normally used by ISPs to block certain websites, load websites faster and provide more security. But most often it ends up in certain configuration problems. We earlier covered a method to remove OpenDNS hijacking from Firefox. Though it useful to have a DNS service, it would redirect our typos and searches to their website. This was the problem associated with OpenDNS. A simple typo will take us to the OpenDNS search result page. Since the Public DNS service is from Google, the URL typos would get re-directed to Google search results. And this is something what we need. Google servers are faster and they are able to provide effective malware warning* on websites. So here is a comparison between Google Public DNS and OpenDNS in configuration.
