Though Firefox is the present fastest browser ,there are few customizations that can still speed up Firefox 3 . The default Firefox configurations are set for Dial up users .So if you have a broadband internet connection , you can make Firefox 3 to load multiple pages by allowing the pipelining feature . That is , multiple connections can be used to load a single page ,there by improving the browser speed.

Here’s how you can do that ;

Open a Blank window and  type about:config in the address bar and hit enter (press I promise,continue for FF3)

In the filter box search for term “network”. Now to speed up Firefox 3,change the following terms as shown below.

change network.http.pipelining and network.http.proxy.pipeliningto “true” (Double click)
change network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a suitable higher number . If you put 25 ,then 25 connections will be made to load the page .

Right click anywhere ,select new integer from context menu .Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay and click OK. Now set its value to “0″.
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on data it receives.

Now restart Firefox 3 to apply the new settings .

Firefox settings can be changed to reduce the amount the RAM it is allowed to use.For that , Go to Tools>Options>Advanced>network and set Cache to an appropriate value .Try 20MB if you have 512MB or more RAM.

There is an another configuration for reducing the RAM usage when Firefox 3 is minimized . Right-click anywhere and select new Boolean from menu. Name it as “config.trim_on_minimize” and set it to true.  When minimized ,this setting will improve your PC speed by moving operations to your hard drive.

Twitter is having a Jabber-based real-time bot twitter@twitter.com , which tracks and distributes millions of tweets over instant messengers like Google talk and Yahoo messenger. The tremendous increase of user base and that too in short span of time affected Twitter servers and they were forced to withdraw instant messenger(IM) updates ,out of service .

So I found few alternative services that could be used to drive Twitter updates to your Instant messengers .

1. IMified :

IMified bot supports Twittering through Google talk , MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger .That is , You can receive  Twitter tweets from instant messenger interface  , after you added imified@imified.com to your friends list .

Update : Due to server related issues , Imifieds stopped public registration .

2. Excla.im
Excla is just another jabber bot that allows you to update your Twitter status by verifying your twitter account , password and adding tweet@excla.im to your contact list.

3. Twitt’d:
I would prefer this one as it supports both sending and receiving of tweets. Another feature is that it supports all most all instant messengers. But in each case , you have to add  the corresponding bots into your friends list .

For AIM,Yahoo! Messenger and Skype : twittd ,
For MSN messenger twittd@live .com ,
For Google talk or jabber twittd@jabber.org

Select a bot and enter your details as follows
/username “your twitter username”
/password “your twitter password“
So now you can post as well as receive Twitter updates in your instant messenger.

Phishing is a kind of e-mail fraud scam conducted for the purposes of information or identity theft . Phishing site exactly looks like the original site in its color scheme , layout and design . Phishers generally imitates PayPal , bank sites, social networking sites etc. But i got shocked when i received the following PM in digital point webmaster forum.

I was in an idle mode for few minutes . So i thought its because they are asking me to log in . It was surprised to know that returned nothing when i logged in . Then i checked the URL
Oh my gosh!!

I ran back to my CP In DP and changed my password and user name.
At the end of the story i reported the phisher to kaspersky , dp modertors , mozilla and symantec.

So be careful while reading emails leading you to a login page . Check out the URL before you enter a user name or password . Always look for identity information (Check if SSL is enabled or not) before using paypal , credit card payments , social networking sites etc.
