Microsoft periodically releases security fixes and enhancements for its Windows operating systems Windows Vista and Windows 7 – through Windows update service. The service packs include all these updates plus a few general improvements and additions based on customer feedback. Microsoft recently released the developer download of Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Both beta versions are now available for direct download at Microsoft Technet website.  Developers can test this release, make their applications compatible with the update and send feedbacks based on their evaluation. The final version  of Windows 7 SP1 will be available for the public by the end of  June 2011.

Mozilla has launched the final version of the open source email client, Thunderbird 3.0 built on the Gecko 1.9.1.5 platform. Thunderbird 3.0 is launched with major architectural changes so as to improve its stability, performance and compatibility. Code simplification has also been done. You can search and filter your emails based on the sender, attachment, people, folder, timeline tool etc. The auto-complete feature in Thunderbird can complete your search request against your address book. Thunderbird 3.0 final is not supported by versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000, and on Mac operating systems before version10.4 Tiger. Compatibility mode for unsupported versions of Windows OS have to be disabled for Windows executables of Thunderbird 3.0 before installing. System requirements for Linux version of Thunderbird has also changed.

After Kaspersky ,Bitdefender and F-secure ,Symantec released 2010 versions of Norton internet security and Norton antivirus for Windows .We earlier provided download links for Norton 2010 beta versions . The final version announced Today doesn’t have much additions to the features lists than it was in beta version . Norton products are now more system friendly .From 2009 version they are much faster and  consume only very little system resources .Norton 2010 maintained the speed of operation from its predecessor  ,and its now almost faster as Eset NOD32 .Norton insights and Norton community supported malware detection are the best parts of  the new security software .

Opera software ASA today announced the final version of Opera browser 10 for Windows . We earlier covered the features of Opera 10 . At a glance the final version of Opera 10 include a redesigned user interface ,Opera Turbo ,expandable tabs ,developer tools , automatic updates , more languages ,new web standards support , and in-built spell checker .Opera 10 final is near 6.6 MB for full download . The browser is really fast companion for those who are on dial up internet . The opera turbo feature that can be enabled from the left bottom of browser window compresses files before they are arrived on user desktop . The quality of the images and text will be slightly lower , but you will see a faster page load time .

Opera is a web browser that’s not getting the attention it deserves . They are currently the global leader in mobile web browser technology. But nearing version 10 , Opera is not yet popular as Firefox or recently launched Google Chrome in desktop category .Actually if there were no addons ,I would suggest Opera as the best browser in the world . It is fast,secure , light and provides few extra features like IRC chat, feed reader, mail etc. all integrated to browser The new version was announced to on test from June 2009 .Today opera released the Opera 10 beta 3 , probably the last beta before release candidate. Developers and fans can now download Opera 10 beta 3 from official website .
