Windows Live Essentials 2011 is a collection of freeware programs from Microsoft. The WLE 2011 package includes Windows Live Writer 2011, Windows Messenger 2011, Windows Mail, Windows photo gallery, Windows Movie Maker 2011 and a few other useful applications. Currently there is no option to download these applications separately. Microsoft provides an online web  installer for Windows Live Essentials 2011 at the official web page that you need to connect the internet and download the full setup. If you have more than one PC or laptop it’s better to download the standalone Windows Live Essentials 2011 installer to save bandwidth and time.

Microsoft recently released Internet Explorer 9 beta, the upcoming version of the most popular web browser in the world. We are totally impressed with the features of Internet Explorer 9. It’s lightweight, fast and easy to use. The efficiency of the IE 9 can be improved by using a set of keyboard shortcuts. There are a couple of  free applications that can be used to take screenshots on Windows mobile smartphones. However, most of them are not suited for latest touch screen mobile devices from HTC, Samsung and other manufactures. Windows mobile 6.5 compatible Whip2Snap is a useful program that does this job easily on high end devices.  It works well with HTC HD2, HTC HD, Samsung Omnia and other accelerometer enabled Windows handsets.

Last day I downloaded Windows 7 operating system form Microsoft using direct links. It contained a set of file formats like .box and all that are to be extracted to a set of setup files counting to around 2.5GB. Since there are lot of files it’s very difficult to transfer them though internet, or to create bootable DVD. One option is to pack all those files to single archive format like ISO. The advantage of .ISO is that it’s supported by almost all CD and DVD writing software, and we can make it a single bootable disc. We earlier covered freeware and shareware CD and DVD writing software for Windows. But most of them are not able to create .ISO images from a set of files. Then we came across a Windows utility called UltraISO that can convert, extract, create edit or update iso and other file formats.

Windows 7 OS released last month had already crossed Snow Leopard and Ubuntu Linux in operating system usage. If you are still using Windows XP or Vista its recommended to update your Windows to Windows 7.  Now the question is what type of Windows should I choose ?.  Probably few of us know that there are 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows. These Windows classification are done on the basis of its support for processor configurations. The very common variant of Windows and processor that we use is 32 bit .
But the upcoming trend is the use of 64 bit processors and applications supporting this architecture. 64 bit processor can handle more amount of simultaneous data than 32 bit processor. They are capable to include more amount memory. So therefore we can expect improvements in multitasking,  performance, graphics, reliability and speed of the system. We discussed how to speed up Windows 7. So investing on  64 bit processor is another step to speed upWindows 7. You should check if your processor support 64 bit architecture before spending time on downloads.

If you are using AMD processors like Athlon then you can use 32-bit and 64-bit of Windows7. Intel has also released a series of processors with 64 bit architectures .
