Chat box for Blogger or website

The recently released Yahoo messenger 9 includes a very attractive feature called Pingbox. Pingbox is an instant messenger/chat widget that can be easily embedded in Blogger or any website . I accept that there are scripts for running instant chat rooms in websites, but the Yahoo Pingbox has numerous other features than these chat boxes . Yahoo ping box gives extreme importance for user privacy . Chats in Yahoo Pingbox are held privately  between the visitor and webmaster .

In my previous post about Yahoo online presence in your blog or website  , I explained a similar solution . But chatting was pretty difficult there as it takes you to Yahoo web messenger . There ,the user needs a Yahoo account and he needs to sign in to get in touch with you . Other than being a simple chat box ,the Yahoo ping box shows a message when a user gets online in your websites and when he goes offline.

. Yahoo Pingbox also supports the use of Yahoo! smileys inside chat window.

For implementing  chat box in your website ,you need to get a copy Yahoo messenger 9 or else directly go to messenger.yahoo.com ,sign in and select Pingbox from tabs .

If you are online in Yahoo messenger , then go to Pingbox page by clicking mypingbox on messenger tab( Make sure that you have connected to internet) .

After creating a suitable model , click on next . Now you will be re-directed to another page where you can  customize widget length,width etc.
Now copy the resulting chat box  JavaScript code to your website or Blogger page to get it installed.
In Blogger>Go to your template's edit Layout section and choose a suitable location . Now click on add a new gadget and select HTML/JavaScript .

One disadvantage with this chat box widget is that it affects the loading time of websites . And also it needs Adobe flash player .
